New home network setup
I have been looking at the VOIP setup I have at home. What I want to do is have it so the mobiles are extensions and will ring with a landline call when we get home, as well as the normal phone ringing and landline calls can be made from the mobiles. At the same time I needed to cut down the power consumption within the house.
Well this is the first blog entry of what I suspect is going to be a long saga.
The question was what to use?
Well first of all I was going to fulfill the low power requirement and so I have decided on a QNAP TS-209 II. This will act as a print server for one of the printers, a torrent box and various other things. The major thing which sold me on this was its extensibility. I have read that I can install a PBX on it but we’ll have to see on that one.
The next thing was the VOIP. First of all I needed to work out how to get everything to ring at once and how to have the mobiles register for VOIP. HMMMMMM………
